First installation of knkPublishing in the Netherlands: Royal Boom Publishers

Royal Boom Publishers decided to improve the IT-systems of their divisions Edu’Actief, Boom Amsterdam and Boom The Hague by implementing knkPublishing. Royal Boom Publishers is one of the biggest educational book publishers in the Netherlands and the first Dutch publisher who implements the only Microsoft-certified business software for publishers. “This publishing software supports nearly all of our business processes, which translates into clear-cut, transparent data capture and efficient working processes and communication. Since the system can handle all forms of our intellectual property products, we will be using the standard functionality as much as possible. This will enable us to structure our work processes even more efficiently and to be of better service to our customers,” explains John Boom, Holding Director of Royal Boom Publishers.

International success

During the extensive selection process, it became clear that the solution knkPublishing proposed by Abecon for the publishing industry in the Benelux countries best meets the conditions defined by Royal Boom Publishers. knkPublishing, which is based on the Microsoft Dynamics platform, is developed by the German software developer knk Business Software (knk) and is used by large numbers of publishers in Europe, North America and Asia. The first step at Royal Boom Publishers is to implement the software for Edu’Actief. “These past few months, we’ve got a good impression of Abecon. A team of Abecon consultants has become intimately familiar with our industry, working in close collaboration with knkand Microsoft. We are now going to jointly work on the implementation, so that our employees can start using the new working environment by the end of 2015,” says John Boom.

One system combining all business processes

In addition to supporting publishing-specific processes, this sector software also offers a standard functionality for selling and distributing media products through various channels. Eric van Bost, Account Manager at Abecon, explains: “All work processes and information flows converge in a single application. This provides a complete overview of the customer and a firm grip on the content chain, combined with powerful business intelligence, a collaboration functionality and communication tools. Increasing efficiency and flexibility will make the complexity and dynamics of the publishing industry more manageable.”
